BT Favours London over the rest of the UK

BT has recently announced in a statement that Londoners will benefit from fibre broadband by spring 2011. The announcement is part of BT's plan to roll out fibre broadband to two-thirds of the UK by 2015, however, London will enjoy the benefits of the technology quicker than the rest of the UK.

BT will be rolling out the technology to 87 per cent of the Greater London area. Following BT's proposals earlier this year to add 114 exchanges to the few already on the schedule, the firm now says it hopes to complete by March next year.

This now means that approximately 2 million homes and businesses will be able to use Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) and Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTC) technology.
